General InformationSpecies: Panthera tigris tigris
Habitat: Found in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Burma. Varied habitat, can live in grasslands, subtropical and tropical rainforests, scrub forests, wet and dry deciduous forests and mangroves. Diet: Bengal tigers are carnivores, meaning they only eat meat. They will eat a variety of prey, sizes ranging from as small as a termite to as large as an elephant calf. An important part of their diet is large mammals like moose, deer, horses, and goats. Interesting Fact: There were eight species of tigers at one time, but now there are only five. This means we have to work hard to protect the non-extinct tiger species by protesting forestation and tigers in captivity. Why I chose to research this animal: I chose to research the Bengal tiger because I found it interesting and I really like cats. |
